What problems do you want to solve?
Earlier this week I read the following quote:
"Don't ask kids what they want to be when they grow up, but what problems they want to solve." - Jamie Casap
After reading the quote, I became very curious about your response. Therefore, respond to the following question in your blog this week:
What problem do you want to solve, what do you need to learn/do into order to solve the problem?
Happy June!
In your blog post this week:
Write a paragraph about how you felt your year was. Did you have fun? Did you learn things about yourself? Did you grow as a student and person? Discuss your best memories, goals you set, and things you achieved.

I am so excited to read your posts!

Water
On Friday, Norma and Edward visited our classroom to teach us about the Water Walk and Picking Up Our Bundles Journey. They explained how they walk and paddle to honour all Nibi (water) and speak to the water spirits so that there will be healthy rivers, lakes, and oceans for future generations to enjoy.
Grandmother and water walker, Josephine Mandamin, describes water as "amazing, it flows where it wants to, it can go through any crack, crook, or cranny. It can sing the most beautiful songs, if you listen well. She can sound like a male voice, especially during huge waves. It ebbs and flows leaving us messages in her journey throughout life. We are connected and united to life with water."
Think about water. Write a four line descriptive poem about water.

Earth PLAY for Earth Day 2017
I loved playing outside as a child. I spent a lot of time biking, swimming, building forts, and playing by a creek behind my house. I would go outside after I had breakfast and stay outside until it got dark. According to recent studies, this type of play is rapidly disappearing.
It is important for kids to play outside. Kids who play outside are stimulated by their environment and are motivated to protect the planet. Engaging in creative play outdoors also promotes resilience. Therefore, Earth Day Canada is dedicating this year's campaign to outdoor play.
Think about how you connect with nature. Write a descriptive paragraph about your favourite outdoor activity.

Fish in a Tree
In chapter 5 of Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt, Ally's father and grandfather used to ask her if she was having a "silver dollar" or a "wooden nickel" day. Think of your own "silver dollar" or "wooden nickel" day and write about it.

Google's Self Driving Bicycle: Bike or Fiction?
Watch the video about Google's self driving bicycle. According to the video, the bike is useful for when you need picking up and your bike is elsewhere, for working on the go and for taking kids places by themselves.
Do you believe the video is real? What clues did you notice to indicate that the video is real or not real? Write a paragraph to explain your thinking. You are also encouraged to share any inventions that Google should try to create.
